I’ve been using other electric toothbrush from Philips before. My old one was the older version which was Sonicare Elite which I had for over two years. I gave it away to a friend who thought about using an electric toothbrush for the first time, but wasn’t sure what to buy. What I love About Sonicare FlexCare Plus -
- I love the design first of all. It is definitely sleeker and slightly more portable than the older version. The procure brush heads with this new version are the big improvement; more dense and slightly softer. The Sonicare Flexcare also has this blue stripe indicator of the bristles telling you when it’s time for you to switch on a new one.
- The 30 second beeping of the quadpacer is another nice feature of Philips Sonicare FlexCare Plus. I am always a bit paranoid when it comes to my gum health as I’ve known so many people who developed gum diseases at young age, even though they brush their teeth every time they finish eating. So what the quadpacer does is it notifies me that I need to brush every quarter of my teeth for only certain amount of time to not over pressure that gum. That way I know I get to brush all the parts.
- After I’m notified by the beeping of the quadacer, the electric brush will automatically stop its buzzing and will start the buzz again when I lift the electric toothbrush up and move on to the next quarter of my mouth. Quite impressed by that function actually!
- The cleaning functions are definitely flawless. It comes in 5 cleaning modes ;
CLEANING mode: 2 minutes of everyday normal cleaning.
GUM CARE mode: 2 minutes of normal cleaning plus 1 more minute to focus on the gum area like gum line where the plaque is accumulated (Quadpacer beeps every 15 seconds to let you know it’s time to move on to the next area of your teeth). The gum cleaning is very gentle it can even be used by those with gum problems.
REFRESH mode: 1 minute as for touch-ups and quick cleanings between regular brushings
SENSITIVE mode: 2 minutes. More gentle cleaning extra gentle for new users or those with sensitive teeth.
MASSAGE mode: 2 minutes. What happens here is the larger and slower circular motions of the vibrations like a massage in your mouth.
- I also love the travel set that comes with it. Many reviewers actually agree with me that the travel set of Sonicare FlexCare Plus is probably the best when compared to other ones from Sonicare. It has both travel case, and the travel charger. But if you charge the electric brush fully before leaving on a trip, you might not even need to bring the charger as it can last more than a week.

Down Points -
- Some down points I find about The Philips Sonicare FlexCare Plus though, is that the neck of the machine is not as solid as the older models. It needs to really be handled with some care and you should never drop it on any hard floor or it can break.
- I find it that while the design of the electric brush machine is small and portable, the UV base is taking up some room. So if your bathroom counter area is not large, you will end up using the travel charger most of the time.
- It doesn’t dispense the toothpaste. Some other electric toothbrush on the market has this function. That’s why I thought it’s worth mentioning as it can be considered as a minus to some.
- Children and elderly might find changing the brush head a bit tricky.
